Description:
This machine was reasonably cheap. I adjusted the escapement so that the loose dog is even with the fixed dog when a key or space bar is held. That helped its skipping problem a lot. Since I haven't typed on it recently it skips more. It is very sensitive to technique. The other brands of that era are more forgiving in my experience. The platen is very hard.
I put the platen from my 1963 Royal Safari into this. machine which is softer and more grippy.

I started with 2 Monroe calculating machines then in January 2023 I used my Christmas money to buy a 1936 L.C. Smith and Corona, Corona Standard portable. Since then have acquired more typewriters. Also have 2 Engineers Transits (surveying instruments), a K+E Foresters staff compass, and 4 slide rules. Typewriters as a hobby has been more affordable than antique surveying instruments anre and they are easier to obtain.
