1952 Mercedes Superba Serial # 230312/1 1952 Mercedes Superba typewriter, Serial # 230312/1 Geir Kihle Hanssen's 1952 Mercedes Superba typewriter. 2022-12-28 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Geir Kihle Hanssen: 1952 Mercedes Superba Serial # 230312/1 [This machine has been sold]. Mercedes Superba from 1952. Bought from the son of a lady who bought this to use as her personal machine as new. Has been in the family ever since. A nicely preserved machine, but one that is likely more of a budget machine than I first assumed it would be. The top lid is quite flimsy plastic, and there are very little fancy features to speak of on the machine. It does feel very nice in use however! Keys have a nice buttery feeling to them along with a kind of clockwork mechanism feeling to them that I enjoy.

I am a Norwegian fellow who enjoys tinkering and fixing up typewriters. One day I decided I wanted a typewriter to write letters on. I bought one that turned out not to work. I got annoyed and decided I should be able to figure out what was wrong and fix it. I did it, but the rush of successfully mending such an intricate machine was like a drug. I wanted more. I decided I would try to buy non-functioning, but pretty machines, fix them and sell them before repeating the process. What I didn't expect was that I would fall in love with the machines I fix so now I suddenly find myself a bit of a collector.
