Description:
Halda P in luxury metal case with embossed leather handle. I say luxury, but this case is honestly quite shit. The metal is good enough, and the handle is nice, but he locking mechanism is pure evil. I've spent a couple of hours on what seems like extremely simple and rudimentary switch locks. Just push to the sides and open. But the way they're made it can be quite hard to push them open, and sometimes the metal inside will catch on edges on poorly formed holes and just seize up. It can be a big struggle to get the case open.
Still, the machine is pretty, and feels very nice to type on. The large single foot base gives good stability and grip to the table. It is visually very similar to a Royal P, and while there are similarities in the mechanisms inside, it is decidedly not quite the same.

I am a Norwegian fellow who enjoys tinkering and fixing up typewriters. One day I decided I wanted a typewriter to write letters on. I bought one that turned out not to work. I got annoyed and decided I should be able to figure out what was wrong and fix it. I did it, but the rush of successfully mending such an intricate machine was like a drug. I wanted more. I decided I would try to buy non-functioning, but pretty machines, fix them and sell them before repeating the process. What I didn't expect was that I would fall in love with the machines I fix so now I suddenly find myself a bit of a collector.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Halda P on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Halda Serial Number page and the Halda P By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
