1951 Smith Corona Silent Serial # 5S273297 1951 Smith Corona Silent typewriter, Serial # 5S273297 Sue MacDonald's 1951 Smith Corona Silent typewriter. 2020-05-03 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Sue MacDonald: 1951 Smith Corona Silent Serial # 5S273297 This was my first typewriter. It belonged to my dad. He used it for letters and for typing up his cases/reports as game warden. I keep the "Clean Seas" decal on the side--my dad put it there. He worked on oil spill clean up while in the Coast Guard.
These are great typewriters--snappy and solid. I buy them when I find them for giving/selling.
This typewriter is my "if you could only grab one" typewriter.

Typewriter user since childhood--"Endofthehall Press" (produced a magazine for my big sister, I did) and avid hunter for many years. Partial to portables/ultraportables, but do love my standard models too. I use my typewriters for letters, recipes, lists, stories, pondering, and in art/fabric creations.
