Description:
Got this at a local flea market for $15.
Was disgusting when I got it, and was brown, with chalk markings on the ribbon cover. Almost fully taken apart (Did not have a reason to remove key levers), degreased, polished, and cleaned (Note: Use scrubbing bubbles (green bottle) for cleaning the crinkle paint). Fully adjusted/serviced, and most of all, nice and clean. New platen and cotton ribbon.
One must fully clean a KMG to really appreciate it. This is really the only one I have seen fully cleaned up. The paint sparkles in person. They type like a watered down very well serviced Underwood 5. It is a shame more people don't fully clean them and leave them yellow and grimy.
All the rubber on it (besides the platen) is very soft still.

Typewriter collector with deep hatred for grime, usually meaning any new acquisition results in being torn apart by the next day to be cleaned and put back together.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Royal KMG on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Royal Serial Number page and the Royal KMG By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
