Description:
This is my daughter's typewriter, made in Canada with French keys. Alas: the accents circumflex & grave have the wrong slug (see the typeface sample). I'm not sure if this was a later replacement or an error in its manufacture. Either way, it's a bit of a disappointment, and I'm on the hunt for the right slug in order to correct the error. (If anyone has a SC they use as parts, I'd love to hear from you!)

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Smith Corona Silent on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Smith Corona Serial Number page and the Smith Corona Silent By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
