194X Hispano-Olivetti Studio 46 Serial # 579753 194X Hispano-Olivetti Studio 46 typewriter, Serial # 579753 Kevin G's 194X Hispano-Olivetti Studio 46 typewriter. 2026-10-27 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Kevin G: 194X Hispano-Olivetti Studio 46 Serial # 579753 Recently got this "big" one, closer to the classic look&feel we all know for typewriters, rather than modern computer-like designs. Not as huge as a standard typewriter to permanently sit on a desk, nor an ultraportable like the MP1 (quite sought compared to this). It is relatively portable if you don't mind some extra weight and size compared to ultraportables.
A bit beaten up, but it still works well and holds up in shape, it just deserves some care and love.

Spanish QWERTY keyboard, of which I like the keys are black with bright letters instead of white with black letters - it really fits the dark body of this Studio 46 which supposed to be manufactured in Barcelona, Spain. However, the serial number fits more the pattern of Studio 42 produced in Italy (579xxx, around 1945-46?), than other Studio 46 with several thousands lower serial numbers (probably really made in Barcelona if they really used a different serialization?). Rough guess, but probably due to WWII a part of Spanish typewriters got made in Italy?

Hi!
Spaniard, typewriter user who entered the hobby around 2024 after being intrigued by this kind of machines since he was a kid, who greatly enjoys both using them and admiring their designs and mechanics.
Unfortunately, in recent times he can't afford to have more than two or three due to space and moving concerns, sticking to portable ones - especially portable enough to bring literally anywhere. Not collecting or seeking pristine or rare ones, but happy with striking keys gotten on thrift finds.

Currently owning an Amaya IM-93, a Silver Reed SR-100, Olympia Splendid 33 (pending), and Hispano-Olivetti Studio 46 (pending)
Past ones: Olivetti Dora, wide Hermes 3000

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Hispano-Olivetti Studio 46 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Hispano-Olivetti Serial Number page and the Hispano-Olivetti Studio 46 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
