Description:
I picked this piece up at a Goodwill store in January, 2018 for $19.99. Judging from the serial number and some other galleries on this site, I believe it to be a 1949 Royal KMG. I think it's in pretty fair condition, although it does not some routine maintenance (the platen is dirty, there is some dust and cobwebs in the body)-- however, as far as I can tell, there are no major defects that need repaired.
A typeface specimen will be provided once I picked up a new ribbon-- the one that came in it is so old and used, you can hardly see the ink.

Having been an enthusiastic writer since childhood, I have always had a soft-spot for typewriters. However, it wasn't until recently that I have started purchasing them, collecting them, and hopefully learning how to repair them.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Royal KMG on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Royal Serial Number page and the Royal KMG By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
