Description:
The ivory-colored Studio 42 was probably the most common one produced after the war. This specimen comes from 1949. Note the front panel, usually black, in the latter specimen is in silver and the model name is only "Studio" and not "Studio 42". the production of the Olivetti Studio 42 ended in 1952, after 14 years, replaced by Studio 44.

I have been an Italian typewriter collector for many many years. At that time, I loved very old typewriters from late 1800s to early 1900s. After a break of a few years I returned to collect typewriters but no longer so old, I prefer now the design of the 40's, 50's and 60's. Yes, I am an affectionate collector of Olivetti, of course, but I'm attracted to all the other brands from that period, not just Italian.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Olivetti Studio 42 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Olivetti Serial Number page and the Olivetti Studio 42 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
