1948 Smith Corona Sterling

Full Working Condition. Don't let the backplate fool you (it must be a replacement) but this is a Sterling according to the serial number and the front plate/ribbon cover design. It was extremely well kept by the original owner (and clearly serviced at least once). It writes like a dream! I even love the slight metallic vibration that rings off of the keys after typing. Very beautiful and well working machine. My best working pre-50's machine by far.

Though I have had a love for typewriters since I was a kid (in the 90's) I didn't start collecting in earnest until 2020 (having had 3 typewriters still in my posession and several long gone). Since then, I have become an avid collector, focusing primarily on fully functional manual typewriters. After collecting more than 30, I determined that my favorite Brand overall is Smith Corona and I attempt to hone my collection in that direction. Here's the preservation of one of the best storytellers we've ever known!!
