Description:
#1123. Okay, the seller described this as a parts machine. I thought I could bring it back to life, and many of the problems I have already made progress. However, the fact that something quite heavy hit the left side of this machine and bent the left carriage nob and the rod it was connected to, as well as shearing off the back rod on that the carriage slides on. I guess it really is a parts machine. I have, I believe, 6 Underwood 5/SS typewriters, so I likely need the parts by the time I get around to them, so parts machine it is.

I started my collection back in 2017 when I found a 1993 Brother WP-1250, which was very close to the typewriter I owned and used to write letters home while I was stationed in Korea serving in the US Air Force (I later discovered it was most likely the Brother WP-1150, so I picked that up). In 2018, my wife took me to one of the local antique store and I saw an old typewriter that caught my eye. My wife purchased it for me for Christmas (a 1932 Royal 10). My wife and I decided to limit my collection to 5 typewriters, so I need to sell off my surplus.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Underwood SS on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Underwood Serial Number page and the Underwood SS By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
