Description:
This is an interesting relic of the immediate post-War period when the Mercedes factory found itself in part of East Germany. Although held as a U.S. "protectorate" thanks to Underwood's involvement in the company, Soviet influence on the company was inevitable. There is strong evidence that the Soviets used Mercedes' Underwood-licensed designs and tooling as the basis for the Mockba line of Soviet-made typewriters.
