Description:
A Smith-Corona Clipper from 1946, outfitted with Pica No. 1 (10 pitch, 6LPI)
This typewriter obviously belonged to a college student, probably the original owner, as it has a patch from Valaparaiso University in Indiana affixed to the outside of the case. It was very heavily used and was filled with eraser shavings. The body bears a few chips and wear marks, but just enough that its showing its age. Inside, showing signs of being in storage for a long time, it also bears a few dozen small spots of rust but not bad at all. Interestingly, duplicating the sort of things that other manufacturers had done at the time, probably the original owner placed wooden blocks inside the case to help align the typewriter when putting it back. The typewriter functions very well and doubtlessly provided its original owner with excellent service.

Collector of several things, including typewriters, slide rules, and mechanical calculators.
Started collecting typewriters in 2023 with a Royal HHE like the one I did my first book report on when I was in school and using my dad's old typewriter.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Smith Corona Clipper on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Smith Corona Serial Number page and the Smith Corona Clipper By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
