1946 Remington Rand Deluxe 5 Serial # B1309109 1946 Remington Rand Deluxe 5 typewriter, Serial # B1309109 Kewin Sanfridsson's 1946 Remington Rand Deluxe 5 typewriter. 2024-04-12 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Kewin Sanfridsson: 1946 Remington Rand Deluxe 5 Serial # B1309109 A 1940s typewriter! Really enjoy the design of the Deluxe Model 5 with the rounded ribbon hood, all the defined shapes and edges just how I like old portables I have found out recently. I got to admit I didn't like the look of this machine from the beginning but the more I have been working on it and trying to figure out what goes where the more the design have grown on me. One aspect of the design I really do love is the hammers how they move and how the ribbon hood is secured (even though it was a hassle before I figured out where the last two screws where).

With this particular machine there are three main problems. (1. At the moment it is missing a spring for the left shift key. (2. There is something wrong with the shift or height of the mechanism when shifting to uppercase character, it could also be in need of a new ribbon I guess. (3. The platen slips sometimes and won't engage properly, I have not dared to try picking it apart or taken a closer look at it yet. It is like a metal cover on the left side which almost looks like it have slipped of the rubber of the platen.

Hi my name is Kewin and I'm a 23 years old from Sweden. I have a few hobbies like drawing and playing guitar but I do also like myself some project here and there which is where my interest in typewriters fits in. I have always collected things through my life but I did not expect typewriters to be my next big passion in collecting. I started collecting typewriters in the beginning of 2022 and so far I have 52 of them (3 of which is currently disassembled) . I find it really enjoyable to pickup a typewriter at a thrift store/second hand and starting to clean it up and get it to a working condition to the best of my ability and knowledge. (Excuse all the dog hairs in my pictures, I do actually try to remove the hair before taking the pictures. xD) Cheers!
