1946 IBM Electromatic Serial # 145939 1946 IBM Electromatic typewriter, Serial # 145939 Ben Taniguchi's 1946 IBM Electromatic typewriter. 2024-11-06 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Ben Taniguchi: 1946 IBM Electromatic Serial # 145939 I purchased this a few months ago through OfferUp. It was originally used at a dental office in Pasadena, CA. According to the service tag, it was last serviced in 1972. The platen and power roller rubber hasn't hardened too much and it types pretty okay, but will definitely need to be serviced.

I have a small collection of both manual and electric typewriters (used to have more). I started collecting when I was in my late teens back in the late 80's. The first vintage typewriter that I bought was a Smith Corona Silent from around 1939. It was burgundy colored with keys that had a black background and white letters.
