Description:
I purchased this a few months ago through OfferUp. It was originally used at a dental office in Pasadena, CA. According to the service tag, it was last serviced in 1972. The platen and power roller rubber hasn't hardened too much and it types pretty okay, but will definitely need to be serviced.

I have a small collection of both manual and electric typewriters (used to have more). I started collecting when I was in my late teens back in the late 80's. The first vintage typewriter that I bought was a Smith Corona Silent from around 1939. It was burgundy colored with keys that had a black background and white letters.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the IBM Electromatic on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the IBM Serial Number page and the IBM Electromatic By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
