Description:
Purchased at a consignment shop. It's so very dirty, typebars are bent in numerous places, there's a bit of a crack in the right ribbon cover, glitter was glued to the backspace and margin release keys, and keys are nearly illegible in places due to years of gunk... but function is intact. Will get a typeface sample after intense cleanup... the poor bottom looks to have felt in it, but it's just dust bunnies, and I could barely make out the ç it's so gunked up...
QWERTZ keyboard, tracks to Hermes' Swiss-German (5504-B) keyboard.
Updated with typeface sample. Still not 100% happy with the J and Q positioning but at least they strike the platen now! Will continue tweaking.

I am quite new to the typewriter world (first bought 6/2023), but I sort of jumped right in with three typewriters in my first week. I am interested in the mechanics of manual typewriters, as well as have an affinity for cleaning up long-forgotten gems. I'm a Smith-Corona fiend, but any nice typewriter will do!
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Hermes Baby on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Hermes Serial Number page and the Hermes Baby By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
