Description:
For whatever reason, there is no brand stamped on this typewriter but the "floating shift" and the overall appearance clearly makes this a Smith Corona Sterling, as also the serial number. Some keys are stuck but, given its age, its remarkably clean.

I'm an archaeologist who writes heritage books and collects Japanese ceramics as well as quite a number of typewriters that I've acquired through purchase or as gifts over the last 10 years in the Philippines as well as in the US and Japan.
I'm currently a visiting professor at a university in Japan and it is heaven here to see so many typewriters being auctioned online!
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Smith Corona Sterling on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Smith Corona Serial Number page and the Smith Corona Sterling By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
