Description:
This is a very interesting Super-Speed with an all caps typeface. It was made in either 1943 or 1944, and no doubt used during the war. Not all of the keys work, unfortunately. The 8 does not hit, and several of the symbols only strike half way. I purchased this several months ago from a thrift store in central Pennsylvania and I knew it was something special once I saw the 1 key. Definitely worth saving even if it does need servicing.

Typewriter collector in the DC/MD/VA area. Mostly collect wartime and prewar machines of all brands. I have a total of 11 typewriters currently, Royals are my favorite but I like anything with an interesting and unique typeface.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the L.C. Smith Super-Speed on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the L.C. Smith Serial Number page and the L.C. Smith Super-Speed By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
