Description:
Corona Sterling typewriter from 1941. Found very dirty, machine and case, but, after a good cleaning and lubrication, it returned in good condition and in perfect working order. It's common to find, I suppose, in the U.S. but not so in Italy. The 3A Sterling series was produced during the war years with logo simple "Corona", the same machine from 1945 was produced with the Smith-Corona logo (4A series).

I have been an Italian typewriter collector for many many years. At that time, I loved very old typewriters from late 1800s to early 1900s. After a break of a few years I returned to collect typewriters but no longer so old, I prefer now the design of the 40's, 50's and 60's. Yes, I am an affectionate collector of Olivetti, of course, but I'm attracted to all the other brands from that period, not just Italian.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Smith Corona Sterling on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Smith Corona Serial Number page and the Smith Corona Sterling By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
