Description:
A while back I found a lovely ode to the Studio 42 that someone had put up online. A real eloquent piece of writing too! Among other plaudits, it compared the machine to a number of others from the same era - a sort of aesthetic beauty contest. The runner-up was the chrome lined Royal DeLuxe, but by this person's reckoning the Olivetti won hands down. Based on industrial design alone, they put it out in front of the rest by a couple furlongs. Well then, I hadda have one! I'm a sucker that way, but boy-o-boy he/she was right! I found this one on Etsy, sold by a fellow in the Netherlands. The case needed some serious restoration and the machine itself had some not inconsiderable cosmetic issues, but once cleaned up OMG can this thing type!

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Olivetti Studio 42 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Olivetti Serial Number page and the Olivetti Studio 42 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
