Description:
This Royal Varsity was in an attic that suffered fire damage and then water damage. Sat in the house for months before it was discovered. The carriage return arm/mechanism on the left is bent - I'm guessing it was dropped on that side at some point. You can see that the glass keys on the left side are partially melted. The draw band is disconnected, and the front paper roller fell out. The type bars & basket have been cleaned but this one needs a lot of work! Someday when I have more knowledge I hope to bring it back to life.

Collecting typewriters was never something I thought I would do. But then a relatives fire damaged Royal Varsity crossed my path and I just couldn't throw it out. A local typewriter repair shop said it was too far gone to fix, and I thought to myself "well, then I can feel free to try and repair it." So, I started researching typewriters and caught the bug! I enjoy tinkering with them and getting them to work again. My husband recently asked me what I was going to do with all the typewriters and I replied I don't know. For now I am just going to enjoy learning about them, working on them and using them.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Royal Varsity on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Royal Serial Number page and the Royal Varsity By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
