Description:
A really nice looking machine that types very smoothly, This was found at auction but turned out to have a broken escapement. I was able to replace the broken pawl and now it's back in working order. I love the burgundy color.

A novice collector and "restorer" from the Chicagoland area who is just fascinated with these machines. I'm particularly drawn to the portables of the 50's and 60's. Although we had a typewriter in the house growing up and used one all through school, I really got back into them fairly recently. However, I've had the Smith Corona Standard 8 since the mid-90's - so that is what I call the "first".
