Description:
One of many models of the portable Oliver manufactured in Italy by S.I.M. of Turin. These machines, although produced by the same factory, had many different names and bodies. They were products made of poor materials and those found today are generally in poor condition. Finding a specimen in excellent condition, as in this case, is a rare and fortunate occurrence.

I have been an Italian typewriter collector for many many years. At that time, I loved very old typewriters from late 1800s to early 1900s. After a break of a few years I returned to collect typewriters but no longer so old, I prefer now the design of the 40's, 50's and 60's. Yes, I am an affectionate collector of Olivetti, of course, but I'm attracted to all the other brands from that period, not just Italian.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Oliver Portable on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Oliver Serial Number page and the Oliver Portable By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
