Description:
This machine really kept me busy.
Spotted it a week ago, thinking it was a run down baby Hermes and with the available pictures I went looking through galleries, a search on google looking for similar models with two red keys.
The decal wasnât very visible and seeing the word baby and some vague logo kept me searching for a while. I couldn't find one.
Advertised as a typewriter from England, I've searched for a Hermes production facility over there, but still nothing.
I decided to buy it anyway, curious about the differences with those two red keys, maybe they were taken from another machine although those had arrows on them.
When I received notice that a package was in the mail, I started looking again for clues.
Stumbled upon the Empire story from Georg Sommeregger and recognised the logo from Empire being vaguely visible on my machine.
Since the colours listed in his research, and the colour on the pictures available to me, I wasnât sure yet. The colour of this machine seemed grey, with plastic keys and that would only be on the black model.
It arrived today, and it is a Baby Empire De Luxe, although the âDe Luxeâ part isnât visible.
Built in 1939, not long before the factory was damaged during an air raid and seized production.
I will put a link to the site of Georg Sommeregger that I have found it here also, a beautiful documented story about this licenced build baby Hermes.
I'm still not sure what colour it is, it seems a bit greyish/green, but maybe I can get some more detailed info here.
There are 2 identical galleries where you can register a Baby Empire De Luxe, I have registered in this one.
Feel welcome to leave a reply, my knowledge is limited.

Hello,
Typerwriterfan from the Netherlands, recently bought a few typewriters again and started cleaning and adjusting them.
I haven't touched a typewriter in a long time, but it's fun working with them again.
This is a great database and I will try to contribute too.
Have a nice day,
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Empire Baby Empire De Luxe on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Empire Serial Number page and the Empire Baby Empire De Luxe By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
