Description:
This seems to be a transitional Standard as it looks to have a body from a 1938 Sterling( minus Tabs and Platen "Finger-wings" ) I would be curious if anyone knows how-why this happened. I found this machine about 20 years ago in Port Townsend WA. Last year I found a duplicate (Serial Number 2C 195486) also from 1938. Same town different shop. I will make a separate gallery post of it later. What do you think?

I like to capture sick machines, fix them up and release them in the wild.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Smith Corona Standard on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Smith Corona Serial Number page and the Smith Corona Standard By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
