Description:
1937 Hermes Baby . All the hammers were stuck in dried grease and dust. It's now cleaned up, but still doesn't type perfectly. The cleaning is imperfect and all the hammers do not return exactly to their place. However, I'm happy to now own this pre-war model, with its asymmetrical keyboard.

I'm a french speaking belgian radio reporter. I was born in 1970. As a child, I very often played with my mother's portable typewriter. Don't ask which model it was, I don't remember, but it served several years later for my university works. I bought my first collectible typewriter in 2020 : a 1946 (or 1947 ?) Royal Arrow. Since then, I also own a 1951 green Simtype and a 1950 Hermes Baby (whose "t" letter is alterated). I just bought, as a gift for my sister, a 1934 Remington portable model 5.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Hermes Baby on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Hermes Serial Number page and the Hermes Baby By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
