Description:
One of the last model 8's before the Super-Speed model was introduced.
What I find interesting on this machine is the tabulator. A lever on the left end of the carriage is connected to a horizontal bar that pushes down a piece that sets a tab stop. On the right end of the carriage, a lever clears all tab stops. There is no provision for clearing an individual tab stop.

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the L.C. Smith 8 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the L.C. Smith Serial Number page and the L.C. Smith 8 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
