Description:
Smith Corona Standard. This is a recent pickup for my wife. I enjoy collecting portables, while she prefers the classic 1920's - 40's machines. I bought it at a great price, but understood there would be some repair work, which is par for the course when buying 90 year old devices.
It needed a thorough cleaning, ribbon spools, carriage spring cord, and platen knob. Other than that, for the price, I'm happy with it. It's a clean machine, which will be in full working order in no time.

I'm a software engineer in the Chicagoland area. I've been collecting "vintage" vinyl, computers, mechanical keyboards and typewriters since I was a kid. Born into an analog world, but grew up in a digital one.
My wife is a writer and I enjoy problem solving and puzzles, so naturally fixing I fell in love with fixing and maintaining typewriters and she then gets to enjoy all of these machines!
