Description:
Saw this on Craigslist and was the first to respond. Sellerās mom bought it in 1935, when she was 21, and they both took very good care of it while they used it a lot. It still works beautifully.
The keytops are not glass, but a metal-rimmed Bakelite or plastic. They had those rubber cushions on them and the last four you see in the pics are really stuck.
The platen is removable by simply sliding a lever and lifting it out.

While I find all of mankind's inventions interesting, I am most enchanted by the human-scale arts and devices, the ones that can be created (and repaired) in a home workshop or studio; the ones that can be understood by looking at them; the ones that do something useful or stir admiration. Typewriters work for me.
