Description:
Greetings,
My Remington Rand typewriter is still firmly inside it's original 'hide away' desk and works like new. It was given to me by the original owner's grandaughter. She said he used it every day and bought it brand new in the 1930's when he worked as a banker.
I'm very curious if there are any other ancient typewriters like this still in their original flip out desks that are still in great working order. I'll keep you updated and add photos as I start typing my book. I haven't cleaned this typewriter yet, so I will see about that as well. Does it really require gasoline, or is there something better?
Regards.

Greetings fellow typists,
A long time ago, my mother signed me up for a typewriting class, convincing me that it would have some effect on my future. Many adventures & decades later I had the odd fortune of meeting an elderly lady who was interested in my research & writing, and asked me if I would like to see her grandfather's typewriter. She had kept it in pristine condition - just like new, and wanted to give it to someone who would treasure it for another lifetime. Now here I am, about to write a book & also a bit curious if there are any ancient typewriters like this from the 1930's that flip out of a magical desk. We'll see....
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Remington Rand 16 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Remington Rand Serial Number page and the Remington Rand 16 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
