Description:
Olivetti Modelo Portatile 1, Ingegnere Camilo Olivetti (Ico). Designed by Aldo Magnieli, the Ico is considered by many- myself included -as the most beautiful typewriter ever produced.
It's got an elegant typing feel that is almost devoid of resistance. "Too elegant," according to two of my friends.
This stunner came from the Richard Polt collection. It was sold by the Ferdinand Schrey Company in Vienna, Austria.

In a parallel universe, I was once the Senior Vice-President of Design (Typewriter Division) at Ing. C. Olivetti & C.,S.p.A., Ivrea, Italy. In the real universe, I'm a Chicago-based casual collector and hunter of Olivetti typewriters, and related ephemera, publications, and film sightings.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Olivetti MP1 Ico on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Olivetti Serial Number page and the Olivetti MP1 Ico By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
