Description:
Acquired yesterday at an online auction here in Japan for almost nothing. It has no ribbon, the platen has some minor scratches and the paint is flaking in some sections but, hey, the carriage works fine and the keys still strike. It moves very smoothly.

I'm an archaeologist who writes heritage books and collects Japanese ceramics as well as quite a number of typewriters that I've acquired through purchase or as gifts over the last 10 years in the Philippines as well as in the US and Japan.
I'm currently a visiting professor at a university in Japan and it is heaven here to see so many typewriters being auctioned online!
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Hermes 2000 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Hermes Serial Number page and the Hermes 2000 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
