Description:
I cannot fathom why Burroughs, after building such a well-made machine, would chose to use plastic gears for the ribbon advance mechanism. This one functions now but I cannot help but feel the plastic gears give me a rather limited lifespan on this machine. Oh well. I think this is one of the best looking standard machines ever made. This one's rubber knobs are intact which is neat.

I love vintage technology in general; audio stuff, computers, film cameras, but typewriters are fun by virtue of how mechanical they are. I have lately been using mine to write letters to internet penpals as well as politicians.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Burroughs 50 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Burroughs Serial Number page and the Burroughs 50 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
