1934 Torpedo 17 Serial # 192182 1934 Torpedo 17 typewriter, Serial # 192182 Milan Berta's 1934 Torpedo 17 typewriter. 2021-07-05 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Milan Berta: 1934 Torpedo 17 Serial # 192182 Typewriter with a familiar past.
This machine belonged to the Czech academic painter and book illustrator Zdenek Guth. His cousin was Jiri Stanislav Guth-Jarkovsky, a writer, teacher and especially one of the co-founders of the International Olympic Committee. I bought a typewriter from grandson of Zdenek Guth, only as a non-functional decoration.
After I have repaired the typewriter it is possible to write, but only on the left 2/3 of the paper sheet. It has a broken main string, which I could not find. Other things work great, I have to write very finely, otherwise the paper will tear. Crinkle paint, czech keyboard, brown case included.

Historical typewriters, cameras, sewing machines, ... - all beautiful things, that work only on the basis of human skill and ability. Therefore, they deserve our attention and respect. I do not want to let those inventions that pushed us forward much faster than we were prepared, them disappear in this way.

Lives in Michalovce, Slovakia. Proud father of two children. Started collecting in March 2020. More a hunter than a collector or restorer. But determined to change it and bring the machines to a new life. Thank you in advance for any of your advice and help. (English is not my strong side, so I use Uncle Google's help. Correct me anytime).
