Description:
The Signet was a monoface Depression-era portable priced at $29.50 at a time when most portable typewriters sold for around $60. It sold well, but dealers were reluctant to carry it, for it undercut rebuilt portables priced at $30-35, as well as dealers' rental business.
Only four months after the Signet's July, 1932, debut, the dual-case Signet Senior was announced. It immediately outsold the Signet, though the latter evidently continued to be manufactured in small numbers as late as 1934.
