1934 Royal H Serial # H-1669192 1934 Royal H typewriter, Serial # H-1669192 John Abbott's 1934 Royal H typewriter. 2020-05-25 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of John Abbott: 1934 Royal H Serial # H-1669192 1054. My first model H. It is showing some signs of age, but I don't think it is anything serious and really just needs a good cleaning.

Update: I have started working on this one so I can put it up for sale. The more I look at it, the more I like it. Each piece I come across that is not working right, just takes some cleaning and a very little bit of lubrication and it returns to full working order. There is a little rust, but it is very superficial and for the most part just cleans right off. The discoloration on the space bar you see in the photo below was able to just wash right off. There are some imperfections on the space bar that I may need to give it a little sanding and it good be right as rain.

I started my collection back in 2017 when I found a 1993 Brother WP-1250, which was very close to the typewriter I owned and used to write letters home while I was stationed in Korea serving in the US Air Force (I later discovered it was most likely the Brother WP-1150, so I picked that up). In 2018, my wife took me to one of the local antique store and I saw an old typewriter that caught my eye. My wife purchased it for me for Christmas (a 1932 Royal 10). My wife and I decided to limit my collection to 5 typewriters, so I need to sell off my surplus.

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Royal H on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Royal Serial Number page and the Royal H By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
