Description:
Received free in my local Buy Nothing group. I was initially afraid it may be too far gone, but the Antique Typewriter Collectors Facebook group convinced me as it's complete, it's worth a go. It won't be the prettiest model out there, but at least it's complete, and as far as I can tell, everything DOES work. It is buried under a thiccck layer of grime and a quick test clean in a few spots (and most of the front, for photo purposes) made me feel much better about rejuvenation efforts. I will absolutely update when I have the time to finish this darling up.

First typewriter bought in 6/2023, now at over 30 in my collection with most recorded in the galleries. There's a special place in my heart for Smith-Coronas, blue typewriters, and typewriters from 1964 (my parents' birth year). Prefer manuals to electrics, portables to ultra portables or desktops, but will head home with anything if it's cheap enough and functional/repairable. I've successfully gifted typewriters to two siblings, a best friend, and an in-law. Keeping up with my lifelong tradition of making and repairing by hand. When not typing or working on a typewriter, I'm often reading, gardening (vegetable), preserving harvests (canning, dehydrating, freezing), knitting, sewing, writing letters/short stories, or shooting film photography. I like the slow, analog life.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Olympia 8 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Olympia Serial Number page and the Olympia 8 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
