1931 U.S. Mirsa Ideal D Serial # 266289 1931 U.S. Mirsa Ideal D typewriter, Serial # 266289 Vlastimil Novak's 1931 U.S. Mirsa Ideal D typewriter. 2023-06-08 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Vlastimil Novak: 1931 U.S. Mirsa Ideal D Serial # 266289 U.S. Mirsa Ideal. The Czech specialty. I hope that I can quote ETCetera No.79:
"The Ideal office machines and Erika portables, made by Seidel & Naumann of Dresden, were sold in Czechoslovakia under the “U.S. Mirsa” name. The typewriters were labeled to suggest an American origin. Was anyone fooled, or was it just another example of Czech humor? The “Mirsa” may have come from the name of Prague typewriter dealer Miroslav Švestka, named in a pamphlet owned by Reinmar Wochinz. "
So that is. I don't know anything more. Now, Mirsa Ideals are less common than normal Ideals, but I suppose, that the ordinary ones found their way to the Czech lands later... Besides this, the only difference is in the decals.
It is in great shape, just dusty and sticky because I wasn't cleaning it at all. It looks fabulous. Rust and scratches, all decals, and inventory numbers. Sometimes I love these more, than machines in mint condition. What else? Easily detachable platen and carriage. Everything simple. It looks empty like old Remington 10. Someone was using it after 1993 because he (or she?) takes an effort to equip it with the Kč sign (Koruna česká-Czech currency).

I am a passionate amateur mechanic from the Czech Republic, and I have always mesmerized by the complexity of typewriters since my childhood. The first one (Zeta 1501) was just a toy to me in the beginning, but by every year I got older I got also better at understanding how it is working and how to disassemble it and assemble it again. The second one was Ideal DZ33 which started my love for antique machines with all the chrome and glass keys.
My machines range from mint ones through a majority of well-used machines to piles of rust that I have repaired to be typewriters again which is a lot of fun for me.
I am quite obsessed with the beauty and technical genius of standard Continentals. I love how they were producing one model of a typewriter from 1904 to the '50s with constant changes in design and my goal is to collect every decal and every major variation of them.
