Description:
This beautiful blue duotone P is owned by a coworker who bought it for 75 cents (!) at a yardsale. It had an old ribbon in it and was pretty dirty. She asked if I would clean it up and get it typing and I said sure!
It took a few hours of cleaning, a piece of heat shrink on the diamond-hard platen, and a new ribbon (it still had the original spools, but I did not respool) before it was ready to go. It kept up with my 45 wpm and required a bit of care to keep from piling and double spacing periodically (just like every other Royal I have!). All in all, a nice machine and what a great opportunity to work on a machine that was born the same year my Grandpa was.

I am a high school teacher with a new-found love of typewriters! Have owned 7, but am down to 6 after selling a Royal Companion.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Royal P on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Royal Serial Number page and the Royal P By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
