1927 Royal 10 Serial # X-1061719 1927 Royal 10 typewriter, Serial # X-1061719 Plante and Doole-Fisher Typewriters's 1927 Royal 10 typewriter. 2018-03-06 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Plante and Doole-Fisher Typewriters: 1927 Royal 10 Serial # X-1061719 This typewriter was acquired from an elderly lady who had owned the typewriter for 50 years, and her mother before that. A typical family heirloom that was making it's way out. She hand-crafted a dust-cover for it many years ago, which at first she wanted to discard, but I convinced her I would like to take it. The machine is in excellent condition, and types properly. Unlike the '32 owned, this '27 is carriage-shifted, but still only minimal effort is needed to use it due to the heavy-duty assisting springs that are installed. The decals on this typewriter are in similar condition as they have weathered with time. However, the paint is in beautiful shape, as are the crystal windows. This machine didn't have any rust issues when first bought and it didn't require a lot of work. Just the polishing of the paint took up most of the time. But the end result was definitely worth the blisters. These machines are beautiful contraptions. The care and consideration in the design of these machines is outstanding. Another spectacular survivor!
