Description:
My name is John Dodd and this is my 1927, Royal Model 10
When I was just a boy, my grandmother owned one just like this one. I used to play with it by smashing on the keys, and banging the carriage around but these 1920 Royals just do not care. They are really truly built to last.
I purchased this model to work on my novel: The Martian Dark, so if you ever have the privilege of owning this machine know that 20-30 pages of my (future) book were written on it.
When this typewriter was shipped to me, the right platen knob was split in 3. Fortunately I was able to glue it back together. This machine also squeaks a little but works great otherwise. I hope it lives on for another 99 years!

Hello, I am a writer, artist and typewriter enjoyer. I like using mechanical machines to craft imaginative new settings. I have signed up here to share the typewriter’s I have purchased to a wider audience and to inform any future owners of their history.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Royal 10 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Royal Serial Number page and the Royal 10 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
