Description:
As found.
Conventional wisdom is that Remington produced the first electric typewriter in 1925. In subsequent decades the Remington marketing department will push this. While they may have demonstrated one in 1925, there are no ads to support they had one for the market until 1927. See Beeching page 180, which supports the ad search return,
In contrast, Woodstock was full bore selling the Electrite in 1925.

Typewriters are the perfect blend of using one's technical skills, history and functional purpose. My goal is type tested machines. My interests are not isolated to anyone area. For example, I am a big fan of Smith Corona electrics, mid century electrics and all things Royal.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Woodstock Electrite on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Woodstock Serial Number page and the Woodstock Electrite By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
