Description:
My first machine. Came across it at an antique store at St. Jacob’s farmers market in Waterloo. Upon bringing it home it did not work - for one, the whole carriage had dislodged from the rail, and a jam in the backspace mechanism was preventing the escapement from working. Luckily I was able to get it all straightened out, and after my work it’s now performing extremely well. Because it’s a No. 3, it’s got a wide carriage - in this case, 14”.

I am a young typewriter collector, based in Canada; I caught the bug when I came across a 1926 Underwood Standard No. 3 in an antique store, and was never able to get the darn thing out of my head. Since then, my collection has been rapidly growing. I especially like older machines, and I prefer restoring rough machines over hunting for perfect examples.
