Description:
Purchased from ebay, shipped from England. It has a badge from a shop in Leeds. It needed new feed rollers, feet, and ribbon, and a cleaning of course. It works quite well and I like typing on it. It has a long travel for the keyboard size so you feel like your fingers really dig deep into the machine, which takes some getting used to. Sentimentally I'll remember this as the first machine I've really typed longer messages on. That's really just due to the fact that it is the first portable I've restored and I've enjoyed typing outside as the weather has been getting nicer here in the Spring of 2025 here in the Chicago area.

I started collecting in late 2024 but I have caught the bug in a big way. I already have 37 typewriters, none newer than the from the 1880s, most 1920s, some as late as the late 50s/early 60s. Most I'm restoring as best as I can, but I'm having some "fun" with a few. I have started a YouTube channel where I can share my experience of these restoration/other projects at https://youtube.com/@DynamicallyTyped
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Underwood Portable 3 Bank on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Underwood Serial Number page and the Underwood Portable 3 Bank By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
