I wanted an Orga Privat since I saw the one at the town hall of my village. Then I managed to find this one, somewhat earlier and in decent condition.
I´ve had to spend several hours tinkering with it, but it finally works. The main problem is the ribbon, but a new one is on the way. After some testing, I´ve got the hang of this simple and sturdy machine. On the special features side, the return lever is on the right, and you have tu pull it upwards instead of sideways, and also you have to pull the carriage instead of pushing it. It´s the first time I find this kind of mechanism. I also fin a bit weird the bell system, a bit too simple. In general it feels like an austere typewriter.
It´s a serious one, the total opposite of other flashy machines. But it has its own charm, nevertheless.

The first typewriter I saw was my grandpa´s Olivetti Linea 98 at the office. It was just a curio for me. Then I was given a Nakajima, which I didn´t use and my grandfather took it from me because it was easier to handle than the bulky Linea 98. Now I own that typewriter, and I started a little collection in Valladolid, Spain. The Nakajima, which is "my" typewriter only returned home in 2017, almost 20 years later, when he wanted a better typewriter.
A collection that started small grew into something bigger, a nuisace for my family and a great source of satisfaction for me.
