Description:
This is the only known example of a Venus Portable. It was patented by Max Garbell and briefly manufactured and marketed by the Venus Portable Typewriter Company in Chicago. This particular typewriter was purchased from a Goodwill in Oregon; unfortunately I don't have any additional information about its history.

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Venus Portable 1 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Venus Portable Serial Number page and the Venus Portable 1 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
