Description:
This Corona 4 was a recent local pickup. It needed a thorough cleaning, the draw band needed to be replaced and the escapement mechanism needed to be reengaged (it was completely disconnected). I cleaned & buffed the paint. The keys feels nice and it types well. I may replace the rollers in the future, but I'm in no hurry. For a 100 year old machine, it's typing well. I wonder what items from 2024 will last 100 just as well.
The case is obviously from a younger Smith Corona (cerca 1950s), but it came with the typewriter, it fits and it needs a case.

I'm a software engineer in the Chicagoland area. I've been collecting "vintage" vinyl, computers, mechanical keyboards and typewriters since I was a kid. Born into an analog world, but grew up in a digital one.
My wife is a writer and I enjoy problem solving and puzzles, so naturally fixing I fell in love with fixing and maintaining typewriters and she then gets to enjoy all of these machines!
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Corona 4 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Corona Serial Number page and the Corona 4 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
