Description:
The Noiseless Portable was a compact, three-bank portable typewriter engineered to reduce typing noise through a clever counterweight / momentum mechanism that gently carries the typebars to the platen, producing a quieter “kiss” rather than a hard strike. It folded down quite small, making it notably portable for its era. Though it wasn’t entirely silent, its design stood out among attempts to tame the racket of early typewriters. Ultimately, due to modest sales and technical limitations (e.g. blurrier impression compared to conventional models), the Noiseless company merged with Remington in 1924, and the Noiseless Portable line was phased out in favor of newer designs.
