Description:
This piece is from 1923. The XC-D has 30 keys (instead of the standard 28 on the Corona 3) and a single dead key. This typewriter has French and Spanish accents, cedilla, and virgulilla. It is in remarkable condition, though I have had to replace the loose dog screw, which was sheered off when I found it. It is now fully functional. I like the relative efficiency of the French/Spanish accents on this typewriter, compared with the way the French or Spanish keys were laid out on most Coronas at this time. Many contemporary French keyboards had specific keys for ç, é, è, and à, along with an extra key for ^ and `. But no extra ´, which meant you couldn't use it for Spanish (never mind the absence of the ñ).

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Corona 3 XC-D on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Corona Serial Number page and the Corona 3 XC-D By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
