Description:
Advertised on Kijiji in Montréal, Canada in April 2022.
This is a model 10 S, but there isn't a separate 10 S section in the Database so I loaded it here.
This model bears the badge of the ACME Typewriters & Office Equipment Co. located at 1217 de Bleury Street in Montréal, right downtown. Phone number PLateau 2523.
This machine has a French Canadian QWERTY keyboard layout. Might be one of the earliest with that configuration that would be used by many manufacturers for decades to come. I cannot confirm whether Remington was in fact the company that set that standard for the placement of diacritics on the typewriters sold with a QWERTY layout with added French diacritics in Canada. That layout would be later adopted by all the industry until IBM changed it with the Selectric III.

Bonjour! I am from the region of Montreal, Quebec and moved to Ottawa, Ontario in 1992.
Amateur watchmaker and machinist, I love anything mechanical, hydraulic or electric. I have restored American and Canadian clocks and small lathes, milling machines and a jig bore.
Most of my typewriters have French Canadian QWERTY keyboards, with some exception for rare finds.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Remington 10 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Remington Serial Number page and the Remington 10 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
